Prism - thinning progressive lenses
نویسنده
چکیده
A progressive lens produces a smooth increase in positive foca_or addition_ power from distance to near without any lines of demarcation. In order to provide this gradual change in power, the curvature of a convex progressive lens surface must become increasingly steeper toward the bottom of the lens (Figure 1). The addition power of a convex progressive lens surface is simply the result of the difference between the higher surface curvature in the lower region_or near zone_of the lens and the lower surface curvature in the upper region_or distance zone_of the lens. A concave progressive lens surface, on the other hand, must become increasingly flatter toward the bottom of the lens in order to produce an increase in addition power; this type of surface is often encountered with modern ‘freeform’ progressive lenses.

Keratoconus Management: Role of GP Contact Lenses
Keratoconus is a corneal disorder progressive characterized by thinning and steepening of the central and paracentral cornea, which leads to protrusion [1]. The exact cause of the disease remains to be fully elucidated although its etiology probably is multifactorial with a genetic predisposition to keratoconus influenced by external environmental factors (eye rubbing and atopy) [2] with differ...
متن کاملcollagen cross - linking for Pellucid Marginal degeneration
Pellucid marginal degeneration (PMD) is a rare progressive condition resulting in inferior corneal thinning and astigmatism. Alongside keratoconus and keratoglobus, it is considered one of noninflammatory corneal ectasias. The focus of corneal thinning is greatest inferiorly resulting in diminished visual acuity and overall reduction in visual quality. Traditional methods of treatment or diseas...

Keratoconus and other corneal conditions associated with progressive stromal thinning including keratectasia after laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) and pellucid marginal degeneration represent therapeutic challenges. Until recently, available therapies including contact lenses, epikeratoplasty, intrastromal corneal rings, and corneal transplantation targeted, in principle, the abno...
متن کاملSuccessful Treatment of Refractive Anisometropia with Prismatic Progressive Additional Lenses: A Technical Report
Background: Anisometropia was a challenge for ophthalmologists to treat unilateral refraction condition. Failure of build-up the same clear image from two eyes together was the major cause for quitting spectacle wearing, which usually led to amblyopia in the eye with more myope. Case presentation: The two patients with anisometropia were found that the two eyeballs position were asymmetric by p...
متن کاملContact Lens Visual Rehabilitation in Keratoconus and Corneal Keratoplasty
Keratoconus is the most common corneal distrophy. It's a noninflammatory progressive thinning process that leads to conical ectasia of the cornea, causing high myopia and astigmatism. Many treatment choices include spectacle correction and contact lens wear, collagen cross linking, intracorneal ring segments implantation and finally keratoplasty. Contact lenses are commonly used to reduce astig...
